Recently I organised my art supplies and found quite a lot unused loose sheet papers of all sorts. I always want to use them but I also step into the dilemma of buying new notebooks and sketchbooks (attracted by their "newness" and fancy designs). To jump out this vicious circle and put my old paper stock back to the circulation of use, I decide to make my own version of notebooks and sketchbooks using the materials around me, within this small room (in the Tier 4 lockdown days).
I've explored several sizes and binding techniques, touch and think about the characteristics and their potential destinations of these handmade notebooks. On the other hand, I am also learning about zine making and coming up with stories and texts presented in the form of zine and other self-publishing. Making a zine is the process of curating the contents, while making these notebooks are the process of curating various paper I've collected.
I also sent out my notebooks as gifts to other people and really excited to hear about their experience with the notebooks in the future.
Transforming the papers into another form of presentations reminds of me thats things in this material world transform and exist.
